IMECE — the International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition — is the world's largest interdisciplinary mechanical engineering conference, run under the auspices of ASME, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. When ASME India brought IMECE to India for the first time, hosting it in Hyderabad in 2025, it wasn't just a logistical milestone — it was a statement. An event of this stature, drawing 2,000+ delegates, 500+ speakers, and 50+ exhibitors from across academia, government, and industry, needed a digital presence that could match it.

It didn't have one.

The Challenge:
A World-Class Event, an Underwhelming Web Experience

IMECE India needed to serve a demanding, multi-stakeholder audience — researchers submitting papers, industry professionals registering to attend, sponsors exploring exhibition opportunities, and organizers managing a dense calendar of deadlines and tracks. The existing web setup was fragmented and static, with no clear information architecture to guide different user types through different journeys. Paper submission timelines, speaker listings, technical tracks, and sponsorship opportunities all needed to live in one cohesive, fast, and credible digital home — one that could also be updated regularly without developer dependency as the event evolved.

The mission was clear: build a conference website that could represent the prestige of ASME on Indian soil.

The solution:
A Purpose-Built Conference Platform on Webflow

Avidus Interactive designed and developed a full-scale conference website for IMECE India — built to handle the complexity of a multi-track, multi-stakeholder event while remaining clean and intuitive for every visitor type. The site was structured around distinct user journeys: authors and organizers, delegates and attendees, sponsors and exhibitors, and the broader engineering community.

Key deliverables included:

  • Dynamic speaker and program pages to accommodate a 500+ speaker roster and multiple technical tracks across Energy, Mobility, Manufacturing, and Digitalization — all manageable through a CMS without touching code.
  • Integrated submission and registration flows with clear CTAs and deadline visibility, reducing friction for the academic and professional audience navigating the abstract and paper process.
  • Sponsorship and exhibition discovery pages built to convert interest into engagement, with downloadable brochures and direct inquiry pathways.
  • Mobile-first design ensuring that delegates and researchers accessing the site on the go had a seamless experience from any device.

The Impact:
A Digital Presence That Delivered
  • 3× increase in organic session duration compared to the previous event web presence, as visitors found the information architecture intuitive and stayed to explore.
  • 40% of registrations completed on mobile — validating the mobile-first approach.
  • Zero developer interventions required post-launch for content updates across the full event cycle, with the organizing team managing all changes independently through the CMS.
  • 600+ paper submissions processed through the cycle supported by the site's structured submission guidance and deadline visibility.
  • IMECE India 2026 is already live on the same platform — a direct vote of confidence from ASME India in the digital foundation built for 2025.

Conclusion:
An Event of This Scale Deserves a Website to Match

The first time IMECE lands in India is a moment in the history of engineering in this country. Avidus Interactive made sure that when the world's engineering community looked it up, what they found was worthy of the occasion.
